Live The Farm Lifestyle in Town

PGP markets huge residential property just 4km from Stellenbosch town centre

Pam Golding Properties has acquired the exclusive mandate to market an unusually large single residential property in the Stellenbosch suburb of Paradyskloof (Paradise Valley).  The Cape vernacular home is of undetermined date, but the large oak trees
fronting the property are thought to be some of the oldest in the picturesque town.  The gracious home is located on a huge erf of over 2820sqm, creating the sense of living on a small farm – despite being just 4km from the town centre.  The property is on the market at R8.5 million.

PGP’s area manager for Stellenbosch, Louise Varga, says the home is located on the road out of Stellenbosch towards Somerset West,  and was originally part of the farm “Anesta”, which was sub-divided for development in the early 1990’s.  The original farm homestead was maintained with its large surrounding erf, and has been occupied by the same family for the past two decades.  “They have loved its warm, inviting ambience, its generous accommodation and feeling of secure, elegant country living,” she says.  “The suburb backs onto the Stellenbosch mountains, which provide shelter from the south-easterly winds as well as access to numerous pathways for cycling, jogging and hiking.

The neat, well-maintained home faces north and offers views over the town itself, while it fronts onto a grassed park which is owned and maintained by the residents of Anesta.  It is an ideal place to raise a family in securityand tranquillity, with easy access to major schooling, medical, sporting and shopping facilities, just 3km away.”

The main house offers three bedrooms and two bathrooms, plus a self-contained en-suite guest cottage with its own private entrance.  Other features include a spacious entertainment room, study, air-conditioned wine cellar, and ample storage space, as well as staff accommodation and a wooden kitchen with scullery and laundry.  The interior climate is controlled via air-conditioning and under-carpet heating, while security is ensured by a boundary wall, automatic gates, alarm system and burglar bars.  “Another highlight of this property is its lush, magnificent garden,” says Varga, “which includes enormous trees, hidden pathways and romantic corners, as well as several classical water features and a sparkling salt-chlorinated swimming pool.  The gardens are watered bycomputerised irrigation, and in fact, the entire home is relatively low-maintenance, given its size.”

Paradyskloof is one of Stellenbosch’s newer suburbs, an up-market area home to several estate-style homes.  It also offers three exclusive security estates where even modest family homes on small plots can fetch upwards of R4.5 million.  Further up the valley, the suburb is home to several farms and small-holdings.

PGP’s MD for the Boland and Overberg regions, Annien Borg, says this particular property stands out in terms of both history and scale.  “This is an unusually large property for the suburban section of Stellenbosch,” she says.  “The massive erf provides privacy and room to breathe in a spectacular environment, and the house provides substantial, spacious accommodation.  We are confident that a new family will build a happy life for themselves in this one-of-a-kind home.”
