A large property in the Rooi Els area, between Kleinmond and Gordon’s Bay,  including its own mountain, has recently come on the market for R9.5 million. Pockets of undeveloped land this large – 23 hectares, and including the landmark of the Klein Hangklip Mountain – are a rarity along the coastline, says Lew Geffen, chairman of Lew Geffen Sotheby’s International Realty.

The plot covers pristine mountainside land with an abundance of fynbos species, birds and small wildlife and is ideally suited for building a nature’s paradise home, or a small hotel.

Property consultant Wolfgang Jakob says the impressive property is an erf, which means construction of a single family home with outbuildings would be allowed.

“With so much pristine beauty on offer, though, it's vital that any new developments are sensitive to the environment,” said Mr Jakob.

Potential buyers will be expected to be keen to protect the environment and ensure the proper management of natural resources.
